One need and one want... :)

I have lots to blog about, and that will be coming later tonight (along with pictures of my school and my classroom!). However, while I'm thinking about it, I'd like to make a couple requests. Many of you have repeatedly asked if I need anything that you could help me with, and I have run across one need and one want. I guess it doesn't hurt to ask, right?

First of all, I am basically in desperate need of simple and good recipes that pretty much involve cooking from scratch. I almost had a meltdown in the grocery store yesterday as I read many Spanish labels and realized that the very few things that I do like to cook pretty much involve things like Cream of Chicken soup or Rotel, which I haven't seen anywhere yet, and even if I do - they will be very expensive. :) So bring them on!!! Now, onto the want... I would really love to have some good fiction chapter books that are appropriate (in reading level and content) for 5th graders. These could be new or even purchased at a thrift store or donated by someone's personal collection. I know my students and I would greatly appreciate anything and everything that came our way, but to be even more specific for those feeling especially generous - I WOULD LOVE to receive some book sets to use with small groups of four or five students so that each student could have their own copy. For this, I would prefer for you to email me for title suggestions... (And remember, packages can't weigh more than four pounds... The shipping information is in my first post.)

Anyway, that's it. If you can and want to help, that's great, but if not, don't worry about it... Just keep praying for our work here!
