I'm pretty sure I could come up with a Pablo story for each and every day of the year, and I'm sorry if they're excessive, but today's was a bit monumental and I have to share. We had gathered our chairs into a large circle and we were reviewing for the science test that the kids will take on Thursday. We had been talking about plants and photosynthesis and the whole oxygen/carbon dioxide relationship between plants and animals. We even discussed why you shouldn't put your head in a bag because of your need for oxygen, etc. So then all of a sudden, in the chaos and busy-ness that is 5B I hear, "Miss... So what about when a boy and a girl are kissing? (Complete with hand motions.) Does that mean they are giving each other carbon dioxide?"
Oh my.
I absolutely lost it. I turned so red and I had to cover my face with my paper. I got totally lost in one of those silent laughs that goes on for so long that you are unable to speak or do anything but wipe the tears from your eyes.
Praise the Lord for Pablo and the joy he brings to my life.
He's also the 10 year old who is reading The Purpose Driven Life. He read a paragraph today, and I was so impressed by the way he understood that it was talking about unity in the body of Christ that is lived out in the church.
Precious.
